I found out about Maggie’s Place through my pregnancy counselor at the Crisis Pregnancy Center. I called to see if there was an opening, and I was invited to come live at The Elizabeth House. At that point, I had nowhere else to turn that was safe. I lived there until my baby was about 3 months old. I welcomed her into the world on July 22 in 2006, and named her Brianne. From that moment forward, I knew life would never be the same.
My experience in the house was filled with a lot of emotions. Many things happened when I lived at Maggie’s Place, but I would say that my experience was very positive and uplifting. I do feel like it helped to change me. I don’t know where I would be today if it weren’t for Maggie’s Place, and all of the wonderful people that I have met in the 7 years since I became involved. I can honestly say that Maggie’s Place was a lifeline for me.
Since my time at Maggie’s Place, I have finished school and I now work full time as a Medical Biller and Coder for a behavioral health company. I love what I do, and I love the company I work for. My long-term goals at this point are to eventually become a certified coder. I am also married just over four years now to a wonderful man, and hopefully when the time is right we would like to add one more to our family.
I don’t regret anything that has happened in my life. Everything happens for a reason and without the support and love of Maggie’s Place, I may not have known that. I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to live at The Elizabeth House, learn all that I have and experience all that I have. I made life-long friends, not only with other moms, but staff as well.
No matter where life takes me, I will never forget Maggie’s Place and all the amazing people that I have met and will continue meeting.
