Lacey’s dream since high school was to be a medical assistant, but after graduating, a few poor choices prevented her from beginning the training program. After learning she was pregnant, she knew she had to make some changes in order to care for the little boy she was expecting. “My situation before Maggie’s Place was stressful with a lack of motivation and structure. I needed accountability. I got pregnant and needed a road to independence.”

Within weeks of moving into the home, Lacey was hitting milestones: getting a full-time job and registering for classes. She embraced the structure of life at Maggie’s Place and quickly became an integral part of the community.

During her time at the home, Lacey celebrated one year of sobriety, was an employee and student all at once, and used her savings of 8 months to purchase a car! Most importantly, she gave birth to her son, Levi. “During my time at Maggie’s Place, I made many healthy and positive life changes. MP has given me SO MANY opportunities. I feel like my son and I always have a family here. I am grateful for the help I have been given to begin a new life.”

Since transitioning out of the home, Lacey achieved her long-time goal of becoming a medical assistant and is living in her own apartment. Levi turned one in February!

“One of the best years of my life was spent at Maggie’s Place. This has been the stepping stone of my independence. I will always remember the relationships I formed and the support of the loving community.”
