New Regional Director Hired and Alumnae Moms to be Served during Temporary Closing
August 30, 2016:
Join us in welcoming our new Regional Director, Erin Valencia, back to Maggie’s Place, The Zechariah House. Erin served as a MissionCorps member at The Zechariah House from July 2011 to June 2013. Since then, she has served on the Maggie’s Place Ohio Board of Directors for two years, received her Masters in Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame, and worked at John Carroll University and the University of Notre Dame.
While The Zechariah House has been temporarily closed, we have continued to serve our Alumnae Moms. We have regularly opened the home throughout the summer, providing services such as bus passes, basic supplies, offering a meal, and parenting classes. This has been a wonderful opportunity for us to stay engaged with the community we serve.
Starting in September, we will also be able to offer the Alumnae Moms counseling every Wednesday! We will continue to collaborate with community partners and offer educational workshops, assisting our moms and their families until renovations prohibit us.
If you would like to donate a meal on a Wednesday or if you have any questions or concerns, please call Erin Valencia at 440-749-1725 or email at email@example.com.

The Zechariah House Transfer of Ownership Announcement
Maggie’s Place is pleased to announce the transfer of ownership of The Zechariah House through the generosity of the Diocese of Cleveland and the leadership of Bishop Lennon. The Zechariah House, which had previously been rented from the Diocese for a nominal fee, will be deeded free and clear to Maggie’s Place later this summer or early fall. We celebrate Divine Providence in the perfect timing of this gift, which will now give us the freedom to both enhance our programs and make much-needed improvements and renovations during our temporary suspension of services. Essentially, it gives Maggie’s Place the opportunity to “dream big” and redesign the physical and programmatic aspects of The Zechariah House to offer exactly what the community needs. We look forward to sharing house drawings and progress updates as plans get underway.
We recognize that the important work we do is dependent on our partnerships in the community and with you — our friends, donors and volunteers. We are inspired by and grateful for your support and involvement in our ministry to pregnant and parenting women in the greater Cleveland, Ohio region. Together, we anticipate reopening The Zechariah House doors to offer a warmly welcoming and updated haven where mothers and babies can begin their journeys.
If you have any questions, please contact Laura Magruder at (602) 262-5555.

The Zechariah House Temporary Suspension of Services to Allow for Programmatic and Staffing Restructure
Since the doors of our first home opened in 2000, Maggie’s Place has continually placed the highest priority on stewarding the financial and physical resources entrusted to us to most effectively care for our community’s pregnant and parenting women in need. It is our deep desire that each of our five Maggie’s Place homes would thrive at their full capacity and potential. Because of our commitment to this, we are taking the opportunity to temporarily suspend services at The Zechariah House, effective January 31st, 2016, for restructuring and renovation. This will allow for our organizational and board leadership to take the necessary and intentional time needed to reassess how to best serve the diverse needs that exist in the greater Cleveland, OH area.
We have taken great care to create a transition plan for staff and a referral process so that pregnant women who continue to need assistance will be able to receive it. Most importantly, with your help, we anticipate reopening our doors as quickly as possible to offer a stronger, more robust program for the moms and babies who will seek hospitality and ongoing support through Maggie’s Place.
